What Makes Our Web Design So Great?
Here is our web development process and what you can expect when you start a project with Infineca.
- Website Goals – During the beginning phase of the process, it’s
important to determine the goals of the website; for example, lead
capturing, sales or to provide information. These goals will dictate the
design of the website as it strives to meet this goal. - Content Structure – Mapping out the content structure and getting
approval on that during the planning phase is crucial. This will save
enormous amounts of time later on.
- Quality Branding Materials – Your website needs to have consistent
branding in order for the user journey off-line to compliment the user
journey online. An example would be the logos on your letterhead
which should match the logos on your website. - Mockups – The mockups are created, keeping the website goals in
mind. It’s important to have enough variety in the mockups to view
how different styles could possibly impact the website look and feel. - Review & Approve – The website look and feel needs to be considered
and approved by all stakeholders before the development can start.
- Website Template Framework – The main template framework for the
website is developed before the individual page templates are
developed. It’s the foundation for the various page templates. - Page Templates – Once the master template is developed, the
individual page templates are created; for example the product page
template which will be used for all product pages. - Add Special Features – Special features are developed when the need
arises for a specific function; for example adding social network
buttons where users can “like” your blog posts. - Upload Content – After the content has been written and approved, it
needs to be uploaded along with any other media to the specific pages
of the website. Other media include videos, images, pdf documents or
slides. - QA (Quality Assurance) – Once the website has been fully developed, it needs to go through
Quality Assurance by testing all links, functionality etc. This process can
be time consuming, but is necessary in order to avoid any errors when
pushing live.
- Transfer to Live – When all testing has been completed, it’s time to
transfer the website to the live server where the website will be hosted. - Test – Live testing is necessary in order to ensure there are no errors
or bugs on the live website.
- Security Updates – In order to ensure that your website is safe and
secure, a monthly update of WordPress and plugins is recommended. - Website Backup – It’s devastating when you lose your website data.
Making a backup at least once a month will ensure that you never lose
website data ever again. - Content updates – Keep your content fresh by updating it at least once
a month with new blog posts. When products or services get added
to your business, it’s important to transfer that information to your
website, where your users have easy access.
How many changes can I make to my website?
During the initial design process, you can make as many changes to your design as long as it is within the same scope of work. Once the design is finalized, major changes can no longer occur. All of our themes use Page Builders which allow our clients to easily build pages, with unlimited layouts, through a drag and drop user interface, without the need for coding knowledge after the final QA.
What do you use to make websites?
We primarily use WordPress for the back end. (It’s what our website was made with!)Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are used for graphic design. Our themes are built with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP.
How Long Does It Take To Create A Website?
Every client is different. Personal preferences aside, they also have different goals for their online businesses. For this reason, the time it takes to create a website is variable – the time it takes for one site may not be the same as it takes for another. Rest assured, however, that we will have your website up and running within a reasonable time frame.
Where will my website be hosted during development?
We create a temporary hosting environment for you. The URL will be provided to you once we run the site through our initial QA.
Can I host my own website?
Absolutely! After the project is completed, you have the option of moving your website to our sister hosting company at a reduced cost, or to a different hosting provider of your choice. If you are financing with Infineca, you are free to transfer your website to any host you wish as soon as IP rights have been transferred over to you.
Can i make changes to my own website?
Absolutely! All our themes also use Page Builders which allow our clients to easily build pages, with unlimited layouts, through a drag and drop user interface, without the need for coding knowledge after the final QA. If you’re not comfortable with making edits yourself, our design team will be more than happy to make them for you!
Who owns my website?
You do! After final payment is received, all rights and intellectual property to the created content is transferred to you. Your website domain is registered in your name, so you can renew, cancel, or transfer at any time.
Am I limited to WordPress, or can a different CMS be used?
We can use a different platform if requested by our clients, although depending on the complexity of the system additional charges may be incurred.
Do you sell domains and hosting?
We do not directly sell hosting or domains. We have a sister company that does, however, and we’d be more than happy to refer you and even throw in a discount!
Can you launch my website over the weekend?
Development best practices discourage launching of sites on Fridays & Weekends. As most sites represent business that run on weekdays only, weekend launches may cause unforeseen errors that cannot be addressed in real time as our staff and most clients do not work on weekends.
